Wow, it's been forever since I did one of these! I haven't written anything show/fandom related in months, but since I'm now in the throes of my marathon Supernatural re-watch, I decided it was time to give those writing muscles a bit of exercise, see if I could still remember how to do it. But to ease myself back in gently, I opted for a list of love - which was cheating, really, because this has been sitting half-finished on my harddrive for months already, so most of the work was already done!

So, without any further ado, one List of Love for Supernatural 1.15: The Benders )

Update for anyone who might happen to follow my Supernatural reviews: recap for 5.04 The End is underway, but is bloody hard work and therefore slow-going! Too much to analyse and discuss, such intricate character motivations and mytharc implications. Plus, sad to say, that run of sub-par episodes that followed this one really have sapped my enthusiasm for writing about ongoing developments.

(ps, for anyone who might happen to follow my Pros reviews - and it's been far, far too long since I actually completed one, I know! - I'm ashamed to say that I started writing about The Acorn Syndrome even longer ago than I started writing about SN's The End, but found that although it's a fairly entertaining episode to watch, it is boring as heck to write about, and thus keeps slipping onto the backburner. I will get back to it eventually. Promise.)

So, in an attempt to coax my meta-writing muse back to life, I have taken a bit of time out to pull together a List of Love for SN season one's Nightmare.

You know, with this year being as manic as it has been, it feels like the longest time since I've either had the time or the inclination for any of my writing projects. But after finishing that recap last week, I've been in the mood for writing again, and it has felt good. I've also had a few evenings to myself, for once, and so have been able to indulge. So, I've made a start on the beginnings of a new Pros recap and even dabbled with the beginnings of a fic I've had notes for for...well, longer than I'm willing to admit, actually. I've also pushed on with the next of my outstanding SN recaps, which will probably be the next thing completed if only because all the structure, transcription and meta notes are now already in place just waiting to be written up properly - it's further along than anything else and so easiest to complete.

But because When The Levee Breaks is so heartbreakingly intense, to give myself a break from it, I've pulled together a very quick list of love for an old episode - season one's Route 666, which was next on the list. It's been so long since I did one of these, I'd forgotten how much fun it was!

You can either read it here, behind the cut, or if LJ is being wonky you can also find it over at my website, here.

List of Love!

It's been ages since I did one of these, but I've been feeling in need of a little season one goodness lately, and this one is an all-time favourite: perfect!

I think that it is definitely October. Or maybe March. One thing's for sure - it isn't August! So cold and wet. Very depressing for the time of year.

Just got time to sneak in another List of Love before taking off on my hols this weekend. Scarecrow this time around - the second of the trio of episodes that cemented my love for Supernatural way back when I first started watching the show. Funny, though, how some favoured episodes are easier to write about than others - this one was much tricker to put together than Asylum!

List of love! Because I was in the mood for some classic season one SN, and Asylum is up next, and is one of my all-time favourite episodes. This one is awesome. It's the first of the little trio of episodes that converted me from casual fan of the show to full-blown obsession. Asylum-Scarecrow-Faith: the character progression through the three makes up an amazing little mini-arc. So, here's the first:

Quiet all week, and then two posts in one day. I've had another List of Love on the go for ages, without ever getting very far because...well, Home just isn't a standout episode for me. It's one I always feel I should love, but can never summon up much enthusiasm for. Having said all that, it does contain all kinds of fun, poignant and mytharc-ally important moments. So, here 'tis:

Foreign Naked Guy and Foreign Naked Girlfriend, who live opposite and share garden space with me, came home with a kitten yesterday. I swear, it's like they copy everything I do! It's this tiny, tiny bundle of fluff, six weeks old, black with white feet, called Socks. Still all wobbly and blue-eyed, it's such a baby. So they promptly left the back door wide open so it could escape and then shouted at it when it got outside! Idiots. Not a promising beginning, but hopefully they'll get the hang of how cats work! Poppy was fascinated with it, but I had to bring her in because she was scaring it just by being big, poor little thing.

It's been over a fortnight now since the finale of Supernatural's third season aired, the first spoilers about the general direction of season four are starting to come out, and hiatus is looking incredibly long. So I've pulled together a few notes and pictures to make the next List of Love in the series, this one for episode 1.08: Bugs.

Oh, and I've also updated my timeline for the show to include season three, if anyone's interested in taking a look. Let me know if I've missed anything obvious!

On Monday I bought a couple of t-shirts for my brother's birthday on Sunday. Tonight I went to wrap them...only to find that they've disappeared completely. Starting to get a little concerned that maybe I put the bag down in another shop and forgot to pick it back up again, only I'm sure I came straight home after. Why can't I remember?! Bah. Stupid memory.

Anyway, after all that irritating Life Stuff I've been dealing with all week, I decided it was time to kick back with a quick bit of fandom pleasure. So, without any further ado, here's the latest List of Love in the series: this time for Supernatural 1.07 Hookman.

Fandom = therapy, no? Skin is one of those early episodes of SN that I never wrote a really in-depth recap for, so that when I started pulling together caps for this picspam, all kinds of repressed meta came flooding out. So...this is a little wordy, I'm afraid. And long. Also, image-heavy, so dial-up users beware!
